Graham Spanier Loses Appeal, Could Be Jailed Soon

February 22, 2019

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Thursday declined to hear an appeal from Graham Spanier, former president of Pennsylvania State University, of his 2017 conviction on one charge of child endangerment in the way he responded -- and didn't respond -- to reports about Jerry Sandusky, who engaged in years of sexual abuse of boys while serving as assistant coach of the Penn State football team. The appeal that the Supreme Court declined to consider centered not on Spanier's actions but on how the judge applied statute of limitations law, the Associated Press reported. Spanier was sentenced to two months in jail and two months of house arrest, but he has been free pending his appeal.
